We are a homeschooling family who also own a music store and have always been actively involved in various music programs such as band, chorus, theory, jazz bands, and more. However, we were disappointed that our children were unable to have the same music experiences that we had while growing up. Therefore, we decided to create a program to provide homeschoolers with the opportunity to have these music experiences at an affordable price. Being a homeschooling family ourselves, we understand the challenges of juggling and budgeting for our children's growth and experiences. Gil, the dad and owner of the Music Score, is highly educated and talented in almost all instruments, and he received extensive music education and training at Western Connecticut University. He has been teaching music for 25 years.
We are thrilled to announce our Winter Music Class Session, running from January 22 to March 30. This 10-week program is designed specifically for homeschoolers, offering a variety of courses tailored to different age groups and musical interests.
Our winter session aims to foster a deep appreciation for music, develop foundational skills, and provide a fun, engaging learning environment for all students.
Our courses range from early childhood music classes for our youngest learners to advanced workshops for older students, including group keyboard, ukulele, guitar lessons, and even a youth band experience. Each class is structured to nurture musical growth, creativity, and a sense of community among students.
Gil Flores Bio: TEACHES: Brass instruments (French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, and Tuba), Wind Instruments (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe), Guitar, Ukulele, Bass, Piano, and Vocal Gil is a multi-instrumental performer, writer, recording artist, and private teacher with over 25 years of experience. He is also the owner of the Music Score. He attended Western Connecticut State University as a Music Education Major. Gil is proficient in many instruments including (but not limited to): Piano, Voice, Guitar, Bass, Low & High Brass Instruments, Clarinet, Saxophone, Drums, Violin, Oboe, and Ukulele. Performed in many Pit Orchestras in Elementary Schools, High Schools, and College. Performed on the road with a number of bands including his 80's cover band, "Gargamel."
As our program evolved, we observed that the children who have been with us since the start were developing remarkable skills. This observation led us to structure the course into sessions, which not only aids in further developing the children's abilities but also allows us to tailor our lesson plans, crafts, and activities more effectively. This session-based approach also helps us in estimating the number of participants, ensuring that we are well-prepared for each group.

Learn to play the keyboard with peers, focusing on reading music and performing together. We provide keyboards during lessons. However, students must have something to practice on at home. For those who do not have one, our store provides an option to purchase or rent-to-own a keyboard or a piano at a 25% discount for attendees of this program.

Dive into the ukulele's fun world with group lessons covering chords, strumming, and popular songs. Participants are required to bring their own ukulele. However, for those who do not have one, our store provides an option to purchase a ukulele at a 25% discount for attendees of this program.

Embark on an exhilarating musical journey with our Youth Band Ensemble! This weekly class is scheduled every Saturday evenings and will end in a live concert performance, showcasing the talents and progress of our students. We welcome all levels who are at least at the beginner level of proficiency in their chosen instrument.
This series is perfect for budding musicians looking to deepen their understanding of music and its various applications. Whether you're a future producer, solo artist, or band member, these workshops will provide the tools and knowledge to advance your musical journey.

Lift your voice in harmony with our Chorus Ensemble! Scheduled for the evening to accommodate busy schedules, our chorus class meets from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, concluding the session with a celebratory concert. This class is an excellent opportunity for vocalists to refine their singing skills, learn a diverse repertoire, and experience the joy of choral singing.
Participants will engage in vocal exercises, group rehearsals, and develop a sense of musical camaraderie as they prepare for the final performance. The concert will be a showcase , providing students with a platform to share their passion for music with friends, family, and the community.
