Build your house upon the Rock - The Word of God

FOUNDATIONS
Bible Bite 1

A building needs a solid foundation, even to survive. No less the believer.  In this series, we will look at a number of important foundational principles, to ensure that we are building on the Rock and not sand! Our saviour taught us that it is critical to build on the rock, or when the storm comes we will suffer great loss.

Yeshua , who is the Word made flesh, is the cornerstone of the building. The Spirit and the Word never disagree. The Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of the Son and the Word, and the Holy Set Apart Spirit are all ONE. They never disagree with each other.

We should "Count the cost" before we set the sails."  It cost Yeshua everything to save us from the wages of death and give us eternal life! But that does not mean it will cost us nothing. In fact Yeshua says to us all:

Mrk 8:34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. Mrk 8:35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it

Mrk 8:36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

So let us count the cost. Put plainly, it will also cost us everything! But let us not lose sight of the reward both in this life and the next.

We will never be shipwrecked. As long as we do not deny Him and put him to an open shame, we will always rise again out of every trial, even death.

Pro 24:16 For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

Even the word translated fall above, in the Hebrew is different for the righteous and the wicked!

It is crtical to understand the following foundational verse:

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Law cannot save, but condemns the guilty.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So, saved by grace, we diligently seek Him.  Even our faith is a gift from Him. He is the "author and finisher of our faith". But he will reward our seeking.  Yeshua taught us : "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Mat 6:33

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

NOTE: Old King James translates "we live by the faith OF the son of God, while the new King James and uses "IN the son of God". To me they are both the same. If you put your faith IN someone, you trust them to do something. Trust Him even for the faith.  God has promised to give us all we need for life and godliness.

2Pe 1:3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

Where and how should we seek him?

Having received such grace, the prime place to seek Him is through His Word. Remember what we said about the Spirit of the Father and the Son and the Word. How they are one. Note this ...

Rom 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

If you want more faith, read the Word of God and ask for Faith!

Mat 7:8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Do you see that, even though righteousness does not come by the law, but by grace, there is something you need to do, at least in seeking and submitting to his grace. Because, if you do not end up a doer of the word, but only a hearer  and not doing Yeshua's sayings (see James 1:23-25), then your house is as good as a house built on sand!

Mat 7:26 "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: Mat 7:27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.

So let us make up our minds to seek Him every day and trust Him to change us. He will do as we ask. If we hunger and thirst to walk in righteousness, He will not fail us. And we will be ready when He comes.

SURVEY

I hope you got something worthwhile out of this teaching. Next in this series, Pauls foundations in Chapter 6 of the book of Hebrews

This survey will take less than a minute and is completely anonomous, unless you choose to add contact details.

Thank you for completing  this study.

I hope you found it helpful.

I want to make clear that I do not see myself as a teacher, but a facilitator of your own study. Nor do I claim to be infallible in the scriptures, I  study to show myself approved, as scripture requires of us all, and when I find something I feel worthy of sharing, I seek His help,  to share His Word with you. But please test everything.

Scripture teaches that Yeshua, our Messiah and Saviour is our true Rabbi / Teacher. When we study, we should look to Him,  What a privilege to  have the WORD made flesh, our teacher.
I  encourage you to do this same. Share what you can with others. HIS WORD WILL NEVER RETURN VOID.

In His love
