Discover Your Teacher Archetype

Dear Reader,

You must be either a wonderful teacher or trainer, or you passionately want to be one. I have created this little book to help you make your first step. How would you (re-)build a platform if your basement is not precisely identified? My experience says you can  target your potential students precisely only if you have identified your style precisely. Like attracts like!

So, here you go! There are 7 sentences listed in 7 groups. Read them, and circle the familiarly sounding ones. (Yes, you may circle more than one in each group.)  When finished, count your circles. Your archetype will be the category in which you have the most circles. In case you have almost the same number of circles, you may have a primary and secondary archetype.

You feel absolutely contented when you can take care of your students. They usually find you an approachable, friendly and humble person, so they love you a lot. Not only because do you inspire them in a most gentle way, but also because you consider their needs equally important. You have a special talent of how to please others. Although you work best in one-to-one relationships, you act like a director of a play, or a conductor of a symphonic orchestra. On the other hand, you tend to forget about yourself and put your own needs aside. Also, your enormous helping instinct may be too pushy and suffocating for your students. Please, first and foremost, take care of yourself!!! Otherwise you will be too worn out to be any use of anyone. Keep constantly in mind that you deserve respect not only from your students but even from yourself. Your devotion and inspiring power is priceless. The Ministers pull the whole society together, not only schools. They are disguised not only as Teachers but also as helpers, healers, caretakers.

2. The Priest Teacher

You have a unique ability to see what your students need and where they are stuck in their progress. You are an inspiring, motivating, committed person, encouraging those who want to learn more. It’s hard for you to see your students performing below their capability and deviating from the path assigned to them. When moderating personal conflicts, you always find the right voice: gently but firmly steer the parties towards win-win solutions. Most Priests like classes of a large number of students who expect guidance from them. Even shameful, quieter Priests feel urged to do something for the world outside the classroom. However, be careful not to trample on others while trying to save them or the world - even if you act in their best interests. Your students don't like you trying to save their lives. The Priest Teacher is unique; that there are not too many of them. They are disguised not only as teachers but also as preachers, pastors, inspiring people.

3. The Artist Teacher

The well-known school environment profoundly influences the Artisan Teacher. However, your mood determines others' moods: when you're cheerful, everyone cheers up in the class, but if you're sad, everyone's mood sits down. You are a creative, innovative, progressive teacher who usually takes a step ahead of others. You have a unique artistic talent and your own style and you quickly discover that in your students, as well. Your passion for the arts is contagious. On the other hand, you may live in a dream world you have created, deceiving yourself into perceiving it as reality. As a result, it can be difficult for you to cope with the material world. In extreme cases, you can break away from reality so much that you forget who you really are. Remember: the truths of life are simple and not complicated. If you simplify things, you will feel more secure, and you will not see the school as a great chaotic mess. You need to build a bridge between your distant visions and accept the reality of your students; otherwise, you will become isolated from everyone. The Artisan teachers do not only teach in classrooms but they are also work as artists, innovators, trendsetters, inventors.

4. The Wise Teacher

The Sage Teacher's job is to learn everything important and then share that knowledge with as many students as possible with humor and entertainment. You are an easy-going, wise, reasonable teacher. It's hard for you to grow up and lose the charm of childhood. Your excellent verbal skills empower you to communicate well, being a great performer and a fascinating comedian. Most Sages like being the center of attention; they are a good role model, the engine of the classroom. On the other hand, you risk being too harsh, tasteless, or childish if you do not control yourself. You tend to be too talkative and bore others to hell. Avoid and forbid gossipping, however tempting it may seem. Although juicy stories always grab your attention, be careful not to spread them and stop your students from doing so. Besides teaching, Sage Teachers are involved with the media, especially movies, radio, television.

5. The Warrior Teacher

The Warrior Teacher's job is to protect the students, the class, the school, society and the teaching profession itself. You are a productive, well-organized teacher, blessed with great persuasiveness, always ready to protect those in need. You have a talent for business, you appear conservative in monetary matters, and others see you as a strong competitor. However, your hard look covers a soft-hearted person. You focus on individuals, elaborate excellent strategies, and make sure what needs to be done is done. You are also a great patriot. On the other hand, you may have an aggressive, contentious tendency. Under challenging circumstances, you are the driving force, but you may forget about your own interests. You may be overly rigid if the rules require it. Remember to keep the bigger picture in mind and broaden your vision. You may appear scary and intimidating, so be gentle and kind. Rather convince and not force. The Warrior teachers are good strategists, lawyers, organizers, people in business. "Rocks".

6. The King Teacher

The King Teacher is a natural-born leader. Your posture is royal, and your students and colleagues are loyal to you. You cannot stop until you have perfectly mastered what you have begun. You can see the bigger picture, and you are great at managing big projects. Delegating jobs, choosing the right person for the right task is easy for you, and you also have the charisma to get others to collaborate. In a good mood, you are selfless and generous with your loyal followers. You feel responsible for their well-being and do everything you can to ensure no reason to complain. You take all the responsibility. But on bad days, you can or do act like a mad tyrant. Your maximalism imposes your strict standards on others. Remember, if you are more tolerant with yourself and your students, you can lead and teach more effectively. You certainly don't want to incite rebellion. The Kings Teachers are experts, masters, leaders, "commanders".

7. The Researcher Teacher

The Scholar-Teacher is a natural-born observer, mediator, philosopher. Your neutral, impartial vision lets you accurately perceive every aspect of a given issue. Blessed with great curiosity, you are a born scientist willing even to take risks to satisfy your thirst for knowledge. You love experimenting with things to find out, "what happens when. . .". These qualities make you an excellent scientist teacher. In addition, you usually love books and are happy to take notes when learning something new. Of all the teaching archetypes, yours is the most varied: you often pursue more occupations besides many hobbies. In addition, you have visionary abilities, good judgment, and a desire for adventure.
However, you do everything to maintain your neutral position and remain unnoticed. You may often be too busy processing the events around you that you fail to share your vast knowledge with others, and you can be a boring company. Thus, the term "crazy professor" was coined about you. Remember to control your intellectualising tendencies. Making theories is not the same as being informed. You would have much more pleasure if you were more active and let others notice you. Scholars usually gather in academic settings, e.g. universities, scientific projects, libraries, but they can be discovered among people in any occupation. Scientists Teachers are students, philosophers, adventurers, anthropologists.
