This Psalm of David, Psalm 13, can speak to all, for in this life, even Yeshua said, we will have trouble. And hear we hear David cry out for help, expressing those intense emotions, when one goes through anquish that takes time to resolve. Feelings of doublt and wondering if God has  forgotten you. But, at the end of the psalm, we also see that faith breaks through. David seems to say: God has dealt bountifully with me in the past, I will trust Him now, and see deliverance.

A friend sent this great Psalm 13 to me, in relation to the Hamas hostages, that we had spoken about. Moved and prayerful, I heard, as usual, music to put it to.

Psa 13:1 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
Psa 13:2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
Psa 13:3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Psa 13:4 Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him"; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
Psa 13:5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
Psa 13:6 I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me. (NKJV)

Now this war is busy polarising people. Do you agree? Yet the real issue right now, is surely not to be fighting each other over who is right and who is wrong, regarding Israel and Palestine. I hope you agree again.

What is certainly right, is that civilian hostages should not be held captive. Even children, like Emily who is just 8 years old!

Imagine that these hostages were our family. Our mother, grandmother, older or younger sister or brother, or father. It is unthinkable, isn't it, that they should remain in such a traumatic situation. Some in captivity saw family die, before they were taken. There should perhaps be outrage about this. But the bible says "the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God." (Jas 1:20)  Where does that leave us. What we can do. Most of us can do little practically. But we can pray fervently for their release. And that may be the most powerful thing anyone can do now.

If we want to see these hostages free,  then  the "prayer of faith", and the prayer of the righteous, can avail much. So let us believe, and pray fervently in the "only name given under heaven by which man can be saved." Remember, we sit in Yeshua at the right hand of the Father, who listens because of His blood.

If you are like me, Psalm 13, David's Psalm may well help us in our prayers.

Whatever ones faith or world view, surely one either has no morality or one can see that the holding of innocent hostages, is immoral.

So please, let us all stop fighting each other and pray and or do what we can to see these poor people, who have endured such cruelty, returned to their loves ones, who are also victims in the distress of waiting. If we do nothing, will we not potentially inherit a world, where none will be safe from such atrocities? But I believe if you are reading this, your heart will respond and we will see that God will set the captives free. HalleluYah!
