reasoning and proof

Pragmatic and systematic reasoning is an integral feature of Arhythmetic 2.0. Exploring one’s environment, justifying through reason and logic, and using mathematical processes are common to all content areas. Students should learn to observe, generalize, make information-based assumptions, and test their assumptions.

Other Components

connections

Identifying mathematics as an integrated life process is essential. Mainly because mathematics is not a set of isolated skill-sets and arbitrary rules. Keying on mathematics in context and establishing mathematical connections to the everyday world makes it easier to apply mathematical knowledge and reduces the occurrences that students will forget or misapply fundamental mathematical skill-sets and rules.

arhythmetic lessons

With these lessons in mind children can extend on what people, places and things lie outside of them and within, relative to their perceptions. Each subject matter is color coded for ease of access and compartmentalizing data. Each song has its own unique meaning and all worksheets are derived from the lyrics. This is to incorporate a deeper meaning to the listening experience that can be practiced everyday. The youngest of listeners will learn. The older students will be able to participate at the level they are at. There is something in the blueprint for all levels.

lesson 1

The core theme of Numero Uno is believing in yourself. By comparing the number 1 to yourself, it will help broaden your awareness. By encouraging positive thinking and motivation, this influencing ideology bridges on the belief that knowledge of yourself is key to reaching your fullest potential.

00:00

I'm number one, I'm number one, the great numero uno /

So were gonna make a change and do great thangs /

Exercising the most powerful tool for the brain, and /

By the way an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and /

When we multiply any number by 1 it stays the same /

Like, 1 x 1 is 1, and 1 times 2 is 2 the same is true /

If we took 1 and multiplied it by you, you’re a power tool /

So just think if we added multiplication to the equation of you /

Not only would it be fun, your arsenal would be mightier than a gun /

I don’t want to hear you say I can’t because I am too dumb /

This lesson on multiplying by 1 has just begun /

Winners never quit quitters never win so truly you have already won /

You would be the tightest thing around, your brains would rule /

8 - 233

Workbook

You took advantage of your lessons in school /

The building blocks of success whenever you get through /

Your teachers believe in you, I believe in you, you believe in you too /

You might go further with a Bachelor, Masters, or PhD /

Believe me you must know 3 x 1 is 3, and 1 x 3 is 3 /

Whatever your degree, or if you just want to study the leaves on a tree /

Or figure out the age of it by cutting the bark and counting the rings /

Or predicting the weather on satellite TV /

You have to know about barometer, and humidity /

Or if it’s going to be cloudy with low pressure winds from the east /

See you can’t escape these numbers they are constantly surrounding us /

Moving about us and inside of us /

For sure should I say anymore? /

1 x 4 is 4, and 1 x 5 is 5 /

9 - 233

Workbook

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times 1 is still 5 /

1 million times 1 is 1 million, and /

5 million if you multiply 1 million 5 times because /

One million x 5 is 5 million and /

The same if it were a billion, a trillion, a zillion or quadrillion /

If you multiply it by one that number would stand strong /

Like the math that stands the Empire State Building

Holler if you feel me holler if you’re feeling multiplying by 1 /

It’s simple you feel it /

Don’t hesitate just come on /

Chorus:

And when you’re asked what is 1 x 6 you will say 6 /

With confidence because we multiplied 6 by 1 /

10 - 233

Workbook

You’re clever, getting better and better

I say seven you’ll say seven because we multiply it by 1 /

Accuracy and precision /

No hesitation in decisions /

Making choices believe it, this marathon you will be winning /

Reading and writing with math comprehension you get it /

Say you feel it multiplying by 1 /

1 x 8 is 8, and 1 x 9 is 9 this hustle and bustle is worth it /

When were learning our times getting down with the grind /

Chorus:

And learning our times we call it multiplying /

In reverse on the flip side we call it divide /

Irreplaceable you are Numero Uno, and yes maybe a kid /

Even if we took 1 million and multiplied it by 10 /

11 - 233

Workbook

Look up in the sky at night and pick out a star /

The constellations in the heavens aren’t brighter than what you are /

Because you are the bomb I can’t say it no better /

But before I go on I must tell you 1 x 11 is 11 /

Clever because we took hip hop and put it to mathematics /

And well 1 x 12 is 12 and until we learn them /

Opportunities is limited like Limited Editions /

And then we’re stuck; it’s hard for us to go anywhere /

We got 11 more multiplications rhymes that we want to tell /

So wake up pay attention don’t go to sleep /

Look up at the stars and make a wish, I bet you /

That you will see the brightest star is who you are /

Now we kicked it off and now it’s time for us to move on /

We rhymed and multiplied with Numero Uno and that was fun /

12 - 233

Workbook

Quitters never win and winners never quit /

So truly this marathon you have already won /

Chorus:

lesson 2

This lesson focuses on multiplying by 2 using a pair of shoes. It also uses everyday pairs on the body children can easily identify with. The catchy chorus, “2, 4 ,6, 8, 10, 12, Just Double your Numbers,” eloquently demonstrates things in pairs, and helps to make the correlation and relationships with 2.

24 - 233

Workbook

2, 4, 6, 8, 10, twelve / Just double / just double your numbers /

2 x 1 is 2 right / easy to remember when you memorize /

Say / you do what you do / in your favorite shoes /

That would be / 2 x 1 / and that 1 is you /

Hopefully working out problems / in a classroom at school /

We got 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12; 14, 16, 18, 20; 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30 /

We double up with pride / on this mathematical journey and /

Stack your 2's up high / in this process of learning /

Lunch is the time to talk / when your eating /

Class is the time for thoughts / when your thinking /

Multiplying by 2 is easy / when the numbers are even /

No need for cheating /

Add and subtract and multiply and divide / add it up /

25 - 233

Workbook

But its easy if we multiply / we got you your favorite shoes /

And your neighbor / with his or her (2) shoes on to /

We got the answer like 4 /

That’s you and your neighbor / with a pair of shoes on /

Or 2 x 2 is 4 / just add another 2 / if you need to know more /

But we can come up with this / were clever with this /

Tricks to make us remember / multiplying like this /

Your 2 feet in your favorite kicks /

Chorus:

And we got 6 / and the answer is /

I know you gonna like it /

Your 2 eyes, your 2 feet/ and your favorite kicks /

No it aint too late / we have the answer to 8 /

26 - 233

Workbook

Your 2 eyes, your 2 feet, your 2 lips / and your most likely favorite /

We didn’t subtract we added / took a shortcut and multiplied it /

Double the numbers / to automatically know them / and how to divide it /

That’s you plus 3 people / in your favorite kicks /

And the answer is this /

You plus 3 is 4 / times 2 is 8 /

Learning numbers this way is great / 2 x 4 is 8 /

See i told you you would like it /

Multiplying by 2 / and memorizing /

Need i say anymore? /

That’s 4 people / with a pair of shoes on /

Just look down / and count /

The number of kicks / on the feet / that you see on the floor /

27 - 233

Workbook

And the answer is 10/ if we can get 1 more person / to join /

Cause 2 x 5 is 10 / that’s 5 people / in a pair of kicks /

We multiplied them / when they all joined in /

So we can keep multiplying / cause were doin it so well /

Cause if we add 2 / or multiply 6 by 2 / that’s  12 /

That’s 2 eyes, 2 feet, 2 lips / 2 ears, 2 nostrils, and /

And your favorite kicks /

Chorus:

Now there are 14 things / that we can count by 2 /

It’s 7 things on the scene /

So I know / you will find quite refreshing /

You can count by 1 and go slow /

Or double up and have / speed to your flow /

28 - 233

Workbook

And if we double up 7 / that’ll be 14 /

Added to this flow /

That’s 2 eyebrows / 2 eyes / 2 feet / 2 lips / 2 ears /

And for you to blow / out of your nose / 2 nostrils /

And don’t forget this / look down on the flo /

And you will see it /

You wearing / your favorite kicks /

lesson 3

The underlying theme in this lesson 3 gives an example of how to deal with peer pressures and adversities children may experience in their environments. While they can’t always control their environments or situations they may experience, the lesson is saying it’s cool to demonstrate leadership, learning, and going to school, instead of participating in activities that are not beneficial to their well-being.

40 - 233

Workbook

Cool cats wear hats / that represents / the thinking caps /

Don’t carry no gats, might be hot on our block /

But we know where to get the A's at (Repeat) /

Cool cats where hats / that represents / the thinking cap /

We don’t carry no gats / and we know where to get the A’s at /

In some instances / it’s hot on our block /

Believe it or not methamphetamines / and even that weed /

And ecstasy / Sometimes LSD /

That stuff gets inside you / and make your mind bleed /

Messing up your body temperature / that’s suppose to be /

Fahrenheit 98.6 degrees /

And if somebody even try / to give it to me /

I’m gonna educate him / in science, and chemistry /

Physiology, and biology /

41 - 233

Workbook

Because these things / are not suppose to be /

Anywhere close, on me / near me / let alone inside of me /

We’re cool cats /

We do our thinking /

With our thinking caps /

Cool cats wear hats that represents /

But my mind is rolling / like a rolling stone / so I roll on /

Over there, over there / that’s the school ground "yaw"/

So keep your head up right / and step and keep walking tall /

By-pass the negative / cause we can’t get with it /

You don’t have to do it / just cause /

Somebody else did / unless it's an equation /

With positives and negatives /

In relation to arithmetic /

42 - 233

Workbook

We’re striving for A's in everything /

We can make the grade /

Partaking in mathematics /

But I will take a B / if a B be necessary /

Nothing lower than a C / because that is scary /

But the next grade / I bet you that I bring it up / we rise above /

Make it better than it was /

No pimps no players /

We're students /

We don’t call ourselves thugs /

That’s a negative image /

Show yourself love /

And while you at it / if your pants are sagging /

Do yourself a favor / and pull your pants up /

43 - 233

Workbook

Were aiming for A's cause / that’s the best grade /

Not putting off tomorrow / what we can do today /

Plenty of time for X box / and them other games /

So buckle down, tighten up / and just make the grade /

Me myself and I / that makes 3 /

And in my eyes that makes the best trinity /

I can spell so I write, and I can write so I read /

And bring it back faster than your / eyes can blink /

See 3 x 1 is 3 / that’s 1 times 3 /

Or 3 one time / that still comes out to be 3 /

And if I give 3 people a book to flip the pages and read /

That’s 1 book for one, two, three people each /

No need to guess / no need to believe /

Believing is based on something unseen /

But with numbers we have / substance and evidence see /

44 - 233

Workbook

3 x 2 is 6 / that’s 3 people / with 2 books a piece

To flip the pages / flip the pages and read /

Flip it / and 6 divided by 2 is 3 /

3, 6, 9 / the answer if we multiply /

3 x 1, 3 x 2, and 3 x 3 is 9 / and on the flip side /

We reverse it / then we call it divide /

3 goes into 3 / just 1 time /

But 1 goes into 3 / three times /

Because of it / we call numbers like this /

The numbers of prime / like prime cut meat, prime cut pork /

And prime cut beef / but here / we talking about the prime cut of 3 /

No need to make a wish / cause this is what I spit /

I put my thinking cap on / and do this /

Mathematical, numerical, arithmetic /

45 - 233

Workbook

3 x 4 is 12, oh yeah /

We’re counting by 3’s oh well /

And 1, 2, 3 more 15 /

And  1, 2, 3, times 6 is 18 (Repeat)

We're cool cats / we do our thinking / with our thinking caps (Repeat)

Now 3 x 7 is 21 /

And 3 more is 24 /

And the next answer is / just 3 numbers more /

That’s because we times it by 8 / like eight minutes it takes /

For the speed of light / to reach the earth from the sun /

27 / that’s 3 x 9 and 9 x 3 /

1 2 3 more that’s 30 /

And 3 x 11 that is 33 / and 36 if you add another 3 /

That’s 12 people / with 3 books each /

46 - 233

Workbook

Or 3 people with 12 / 12 books to read /

Simple / simplicities / with triplicities /

Trinities / A B C's / 1 2 3's /

Multiplying with the number three /

lesson 4

The lesson’s underlying covers a basic analogy about economics. While certain material goods are attractive, there are balances that should be maintained that extend beyond personal buying habits.

In addition, this lesson encourages understanding the responsibilities of consuming and producing because individual choices affects humanity as a whole.

I don't care what they say about me I'm capable of my 1-2-3's /

I don’t care what they say about me I'm capable of my 1-2-3-'s /

It’s o.k. if you’re feeling the genre of hip hop /

It’s o.k. if you don’t buy jerseys out the retail shops /

It’s o.k. if you like the tires that spin /

With gold and chrome / spinnin on 20 inch rims /

But see were not hear to glorify / but multiply numbers /

Not gold chains / gear and rings /

We’re multiplying / not glorifying the bling bling /

And why / just because you saw it on your television screen /

Doesn’t mean its worth having / cars / clothes / gold and /

Diamond rings / your not clever or better / and its not necessarily greener /

Unless your benefiting / and enriching / and making the world better /

Just spending and not investing / that ain't making no cheddar /

65 - 233

Workbook

Stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, grab something you can share /

buy, hold, and sell / and why /

Add, subtract, divide, and multiply / well I’ll tell you why /

You gotta exercise your minds / and give your minds time /

Learn when to own your own companies /

Not consume all your money /

Learn the numbers / how the makers of big companies /

Are wise / they add, subtract, divide and multiply /

And are rich thanks to dollars and cents / and nickles and dimes /

Rich because they add, subtract, divide and multiply /

The numbers you see / it's not the image you see /

They got it goin on / cause you don’t even see /

The makers of the rims and rings and bling bling /

The one’s that know that 4 x 1 is 4 / and not 3 /

Chorus:

66 - 233

Workbook

So just think 1 car / with 4 rims spinning / spending dollars /

So don’t you even think that’s living / cause the designer /

That’s the one who's really coming out winning /

The designer who designed the rims / that are spinning /

Grinning cause one person spending off his image they feeling /

Rich because they spending dollars on his image /

4 x 1 is 4 and that’s hitting / 1 car with the 4 rims spinning /

So just think of 2 cars with 4 rims spinning that’s 8 /

Cause 4 x 2 is 8 / and that’s great for him /

If each rim costs 500 dollars a piece /

And just think / 500 dollars for 1 rim that spins / times 8 /

That’s 4,000 dollars for the designer to bank /

Counting his money he saying oh well /

Because he knows that 4 x 3 is 12 /

67 - 233

Workbook

And somebody's gonna look for his rims on sale /

At their local neighborhood tire retail /

So he goes on multiplying his money you see /

Because he knows another car with 4 rims is 16 / and 4 x 4 is 16 /

So that’s 4 cars / with 4 rims / driving down the street a piece /

16 rims that made the designer rich / 16 rims you see bling bling /

Now their gonna hook up with their homie / and take note /

Cause 4 x 5 is 20 /

And that ain't no joke / and the designer we all know where he's going /

All the way to the bank / so he can deposit his money /

Somebody saw his rims and had to have it /

Cause someone in a movie or video was flashing /

With his big grinning smile / we all know why /

Because he added / subtracted / divided / and multiplied /

68 - 233

I don't care what they say about me / I’m capable of my 1 2 3's /

And knowing 4x 6 is 24 / and in addition to this / he added that /

With the 7th car from the day before / who wanted 4 rims that bling bling /

That cost more than the car / but wait there’s more /

4 x 7 is 28 / 28 rims designer sold for 500 dollars a piece /

28 rims divided by 7 cars each / that’s 7 cars with 4 rims /

Driving down the street / pockets empty / because they want to bling bling /

But they don't own the companies that make bling bling /

And i don't care what they say about me /

I’m capable, and your capable, we’re capable of our 1 2 3's /

And 4 x 8 is 32 and that’s what cool / going to school /

And following the golden rules, for you to stay true /

To what benefits you, who, you, bling bling /

But memorizing multiplication /

Can make a better person grow inside of you /

And it means you really got it goin on /

And you are the status of cool /

If you can multiply these numbers and stay in school /

4 x 9 is 36 / there’s no peer pressure in this

4 x 10 is 40 /

And i say glory to all the kids who can memorize this /

4 x 11 is 44

lesson 5

The primary lesson of “Multiply by 5,” is apparent in the title itself. This lesson uses the analogy of an analog clock, because visualization further enhances memory. While 5 is a prime number, the use in increments of 5 is widely used in everyday activities.

76 - 233

Workbook

All you gotta do is count the numbers by 5 /

All you gotta do is count the numbers by 5 /

Cause you ain't got my number I'll tell you why /

I'm multiplying by 5 /

Cause you ain't got my number /

So let me run it on the flip side /

Now 60 to 70 percent of our bodies is water /

And now we’re gonna solve these multiplication problems /

But a it ain't no problem if we know em by heart /

So lets solve‘em and rock’em with the 5 time table chart /

We’re smart, and this ain't no Ripley's Believe It or Not /

Look at them numbers 1 through 12 on your clock or a watch /

Starting at 1 go to the right and all the way up to 12 /

And let me put this rhyme / this little fancy trick in your head /

77 - 233

Workbook

5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, we're on 6 /

35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, were on 12 /

Now see i don’t think y’all heard me /

Did yaw hear me, here we go /

Now look at number 1 on your clock or your watch /

And then were gonna start at 1, 2, 3, all the way around up until 12 /

And then it goes like this / here we go 1, 2, 3, go /

5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, were on 6 /

35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 / now y’all with me /

Cause 5 x 1 is 5 / that’s right 5 x 2 is 10 / we in 5 x 3 is 15 /

And that’s smaller than the number on the shoes on Shack’s feet /

And 5 x 4 is 20 That’s like having 4 slices of bread with 5 pieces of bologna /

Keep in real that’s fo chizzeel / ain't no fake or no phoney's /

Because 5 x 5 is 25 /

78 - 233

Workbook

And that’s the same as 4 quarters or 1/4 a dollar /

And 5 x 6 is thirty, 3-0 /

And were half way around the clock and thats half past the hour /

And 5 x 7 is 35, and 5 x 8 is 40 /

And i ain't talkin about no ounces you sip out no bottle /

On no corner, be smarter, work harder /

An architect designing building blocks and corners and why ? /

Cause 5 x 9 is 45, and 5 x 10 is 50 /

Now that’s 5 ten times and it ain't real tricky /

Stay with me, because were 10 spaces to 60 /

And 5 x 11 is 55, and 5 x 12 is 60 /

We did it /

All you gotta do is  count the numbers by 5 (repeat 4) /

Chorus:

Workbook

lesson 6

This lesson introduces geometric terminology. While it is truly a magical journey into the world of numbers, this adventure explores the many uses of numbers in determining length, width, height, volume, mass and weight measurements.

86 - 233

Workbook

So we studied for our test, right, right /

And then we know we did our best, right, right /

Cause we ain't bringing home no F's right, right /

Because we strivin for success, right, right /

See this journey is nothing more than magical /

The magical journey of numbers /

And on this trip / we get to talk / diameters, parameters /

Single and double digits / and circumference /

In this hidden language that speaks to us constantly /

Now we’re just going to stick to the fundamentals of 6 /

And their answers when we multiply them with others /

12 numbers that is / because all day long we know /

6 x 1 equates to 6 /

Check this / so imagine you're a bird / perched 6 feet off the ground /

87 - 233

Workbook

Where you catch your morning snatch of worms /

And instead of panicking you’re planning / a strategic method of traveling /

At this point you figure / well I can fly 2 times the height as before /

Because 6 x 2 is 12 / and that sneaking cat can’t catch me there /

Because I'll be way pass his vertical reach /

if he jumps from the ground to the air /

But what if I see him and it's too late? /

So at this point you contemplate / and you'll fly 3 times the height /

And maybe not be seen / because 6 x 3 is 18 /

And that’s longer than the width span / from your left to right wing /

Free to soar to higher heights and sing /

Heights that measure 6 x 3 / heights that measure 18 feet /

So you’re flying 18 feet off the ground / enjoying the sounds /

88 - 233

Workbook

Of the chit-chat / and the musical beats from the ground /

And right at that point  / when you're looking down /

You see not cats / but a pack of blood hounds /

And trying to figure out how many there are /

You land parallel / between 2 parked cars and counting /

Then you put your thinking cap on / you saw 6 people each /

Walking 4 dogs a piece / and instantly you knew that was 24 /

Chorus:

So you figured out the formula / for multiplying those numbers /

But you have to memorize to make sure it’s right /

And know the answers the next time / the problems are up on ya /

So you take off soaring about 18 feet /

blue skies, no clouds, sunny outside, low humidity, steady barometer /

89 - 233

Workbook

And 6 miles per hour (mph) winds from the east /

And you figure wow / surely this weather cannot be beat /

Until you felt that low pressure of wind underneath your feet /

And this time in a hurry you land on a roof top /

Because down below it’s wet / moody and dirty /

But with a beautiful landscape / with pretty red roses /

Now there were 6 rows of roses / with 5 roses in each row /

And you knew that was 30 / because 6 x 5 is 30 /

Now it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to memorize this /

But you should know this to be a rocket scientist /

And also too that 6 x 6 is 36 / no tricks / but know in the formula /

There are three 6's / so when you see 6 x 6 the answer is 3 and 6 /

So the rain let up the sky is renewed / and 6 x 7 is 42 /

Chorus:

90 - 233

Workbook

And you're feeling quite confident now / that your multiplying /

And 6 x 8 is 48 / and 6 x 9 is 54 / and that rhymes with more /

Like more numbers, more worms, more fun /

Less stress and back in your nest / you found the best /

The best worms that were so wormy /

And you found 60 of them on your journey /

6 x 10 is 60 / but you decided to get 6 more for the next morning /

In case that sneaking cat / is somewhere nearby purring /

Now 6 x 11 is 66 / you made this on your trip /

But 6 x 12 is 72 / and now you’re cool and your belly is full /

And tonight your gonna sleep tight / and let the bed bugs bite /

And you received an “A” on your math paper / and that’s very very good /

So now I want you all take a look all around you / the pictures on the wall /

the carpet on the floor / the lights on the ceiling / the height of the door /

91 - 233

Workbook

The bookshelves / your paper and your pencils / the computer desk /

The size of your floppy disks And CD ROM's and stencils /

And the distance around it / your circumference /

Count the letters in the phrase / "have a nice day" /

And look at the width of the smile on your teacher’s face /

We live in a world that is made up of numbers /

And parallel to everything that we smell, see, touch, hear and taste /

Can all be measured in length, height, width, volume, mass, and weight /

And let’s not forget about circumference /

Classifications and identifications with units of measurements /

The essential understanding of the fundamentals /

Of mathematical equations /

Chorus:

Now how hard does the wind blow on a certain day? /

92 - 233

Workbook

And how much rainfall will saturate / and hinder your outdoors play? /

What was the distance from your home to the school today?  /

And how many gallons of gas did the school bus take? /

In this whole grand structure of the universe / As above so below /

Like the architecture of great monuments /

Or the orbital transit of planets and stars /

The number of steps you walked / from your desk to the chalk board /

Staring in awe / at the seemingly complicated series /

Of numbers on your math page / and remember you are also /

A gigantic series of numbers / during conception was made /

You’re blood pressure, your shoe size, the width of your eyes /

The inches of your height / the pounds of your weight /

The palpating beat of your heart rate / there is no need for intimidation /

Just embrace and understand / the magic of numbers / Chorus:

The earth's axis connects the north and south poles, as it's the line around which the earth rotates. The North Pole is about 450 miles (725 km) north of Greenland in the middle of the Arctic Ocean. The sea there has a depth of 13,410 feet (4087 meters).

Most of the time, sea ice covers the North Pole but recently, water has been sighted at the exact location of the pole. Global warming has many scientists concerned.

Answer 7 Up's A Must Questions Part 2

Note To Self

The human body is equipped with sensors to detect changes, called baroreceptors. There are baroreceptors to measure blood pressure, measure glucose levels in the blood, oxygen & CO2 levels in the blood, body temperature, etc.

Our bodies cannot regulate changes if they can’t detect and measure these changes in some way. If the body is too hot then there must be a mechanism for cooling it down; if blood pressure is low, then there is a mechanism to increase it. These control mechanisms are under nervous and /or endocrine control.

When a change is made to offset any imbalance, that change must then be registered by the sensor. Each body system contributes to the well-being of the entire body

123 - 233

Workbook

48. What organs play a major role in regulating bodily fluids, an important role in maintaining homeostasis?

A. __________________________________________________________________

49. The human body requires 84 of the basic elements out of how many known elements?

A. __________________________________________________________________

Note To Self:

Diseases that result from a homeostatic imbalance include diabetes, dehydration, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, gout, and any disease caused by toxins present in the bloodstream.

All these conditions result from the presence of an increased amount of a particular substance. In these cases, medical intervention may be required to restore balance, or permanent damage to the organs may result.

50. What happens when the body is not in a state of homeostasis?

A. __________________________________________________________________

124 - 233

Workbook

51. True or False: The human body is equipped with sensors that detect changes called, baroreceptors.

A. __________________________________________________________________

52. The body can regulate changes if it can’t detect and measure bodily changes in some way.

A. True __________________________ or False ___________________________

53. If the body gets too hot there is a mechanism for cooling it down.

A. True __________________________ or False ___________________________

54. Each body system contributes to the well-being of the entire body.

A. True __________________________ or False ___________________________

Note To Self:

When a solution is neither acid nor alkaline it has a pH of 7 which is neutral. This is called the potential of hydrogen. Water is the most abundant compound in the human body, comprising 70% of the body.

125 - 233

Workbook

The body has an acid-alkaline (or acid-base) ratio called the pH which is a balance between positively charges ions (acid-forming) and negatively charged ions (alkaline-forming.)

The body continually strives to balance pH. (homeostasis) When this balance is compromised many health problems can occur. We are not talking about stomach acid or the pH of the stomach. We are talking about the pH of the body's fluids and tissues.

55. What does "pH" level stand for?

A. __________________________________________________________________

The Potential of hydrogen is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It is measured on a scale from 0-14.

56. Why is maintaining a pH level of 7 important?

A. __________________________________________________________________

Note To Self:

Almost 99% of the components of food that are consumed every day are composed of carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen with only 1% being minerals.

126 - 233

Workbook

Acid waste is excreted from the human body in the form of urine or sweat. But the wastes not excreted will be circulating around in the blood, in the body which is a direct result of a pH imbalance.

A very common problem today because of processed foods and sugars is a condition known as "acidosis."

Here are at least seven diseases that are a direct result of a pH imbalance. All diseases are caused by an imbalance in the body.

Calcium

A state of acidosis is simply the lack of oxygen and available calcium which the body uses to maintain its alkaline balance.

127 - 233

Workbook

Calcium makes up 1.6% of our body weight. (1 + 6 = 7.) It is literally the human glue that holds the body together. Calcium is so biochemically active that it has been likened to an octopus.

A calcium ion can hold onto seven other molecules while it grabs onto one molecule of water. No other ion can do this. And it is the right size to easily get in and out of the human cell. As it does this, it takes a chain of nutrients into the cell and then leaves to get more nutrients.

57. What is acidosis?

A. __________________________________________________________________

58. What does acidosis do to the body?

A. __________________________________________________________________

Note To Self:

It is important to know that respiration occurs on two levels. There's macro respiration (nostrils, and lungs); macro means large, and micro means small and the micro or (cellular level.)

128 - 233

Workbook

When you breath in air which is a little less than 21% oxygen, about 4% is extracted bringing it to 16%. (1 + 6 = 7.) When we breath out it contains mostly CO2.

On the micro or cellular level there's respiration that goes on were the oxygen is burned in the process of metabolism. For that to happen oxygen, fuel (human fuel is food converted to glucose) and fatty acids. This is for the purpose of creating heat.

The body's smoke is CO2, and if CO2 levels are to high it will kill you. So, respiration serves not only to extract oxygen, but to eliminate CO2. The respiration that occurs at the cellular level has to match the macro level; it is involved in these two ways.

We often think of respiration in terms of human beings' breathing, but it is 1 of 7 processes shared by all living organisms. Therefore, it must be universal by definition. Processes leading to the chemical breakdown (oxidation) of food materials provide energy for life.

59. What is respiration?

A. __________________________________________________________________

60. True or False: When breathing about 16% is oxygen.

A. True ______________________________or False ________________________

lesson 9

This lesson seeks to show the benefits of a waking state when learning. We do this by demonstrating order of operation using 9 in algebraic functions along with addition, division, and subtraction. Having examples which use analogies to well known world monuments, where a profound knowledge of mathematics were used in the building of these architectural structures. The underlying theme encourages motivation and diligence when practicing and understanding mathematics.

So they tellin me nothing comes to sleepers but dreams /

So they tellin me nothings coming to sleepers but dreams /

So i dream creep, creep in a deep sleep / more like reality

Then my eyes open wide / but i closed my eyes /

Don’t know how / don't know why / flipped my lids on the dark side /

i multiplied by nine / because 9 x 1 is nine /

And 1 goes into 9, nine times / and that’s the reverse /

When i divide one, one into nine / creep creep in a deep sleep /

I dreamed about my 9' s all night / and when i rolled over /

My dreams was in reverse / divide / then I dreamed /

I was on my way to school / and somebody stopped me /

Pretended to be my friend / pretended to be cool /

But he displayed behavior / that broke all the golden rules like /

Smoking and drinking / and not paying attention / just listen / Ooh /

152 - 233

Workbook

This dude thought he was so so cool / so i tested him / and he didn't know /

18 was 9 x 2 / or that 1 + 8 was 9 / or 9 goes into 18 / two times /

So i said just drop the act / and follow me back to school / add and subtract /

And just memorize these multiplication facts / So the next time /

Somebody  ask / you'll know 18 equals 9 x 2 / so he agreed /

And stopped that smoking and that drinking see /

cause he was killing his brain / and that affected his memory /

And we got to steppin /

and his multiplication got better and better / because I asked him /

What is 9 x 3? / and he said, its 27 / And 2 + 7 is 9 / and at times /

We have to break it back down / and 9 goes into 27 3 times /

And I'm still in my dreams / multiplying by 9 / now we got the hang of it /

And we practiced / and practiced / we knew it was /

Practical and logical and even scientific /

153 - 233

Workbook

And ancient cultures mapped the stars off of this knowledge /

And to do this they knew 9 x 4 was 36 / like the Egyptians they knew /

Before they even started / architectural monumental building of pyramids/

Or things that make you go hum /

Like the stones stacked up at Stonehenge /

How did they build them so big / with accuracy and precision? /

Who, what, when, where, how, and why? / but to know this u got to know 9 /

And 9 x 5 is 45 / And 4 + 5 is 9 / and 9 goes into 45, 5 times /

When we flip it on the flip side and divide / but before we do this /

We got to multiply / memorize these numbers and multiply it by 9 /

Now 9 x 6 is 54 / and that’s reversed of what we said before / 9 x 7 is 63 /

See, creep, creep, and I’m still sleep and / knee deep in these numbers /

But first let me finish these numbers by 9 / It's almost my time /

To finish this rhyme / 9 x 9 is 81, and 8 + 1 is 9 / 9 x 10 is 90 /

Multiply with me / you'll like it, guarantee / you’ll learn like no one else /

Note To Self

I dreamed about butterflies last night. A dream is a sequence of mental and emotional pictures that occur during sleep.

1. When do dreams occur?

A. __________________________________________________________________

Note To Self:

REM-sleep is a period typically taking up 20-25% of sleep time. With infants, it is believed that 50% of their sleep time is occupied with dreams.

The REM dream state is a neurologically and physiologically active state. When a person is in deep sleep there is no dreaming and the waves are called delta waves.

In REM sleep, the waves come at a rate of about 60-70 per second and the brain generates about five times as much electricity as when awake.

Dreams occurring during non-REM periods are said to occur during -NREM sleep.

Special Relativity

Special Relativity - is a theory of the structure of spacetime. It was introduced in Albert Einstein's 1905 paper, “Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies." This theory was based on two postulates.

159 - 233

Workbook

General Relativity

General Relativity - is a theory of gravitation developed by Einstein in the years 1907–1915. In other words, an object in free fall is falling because that is how objects move when there is no force being exerted on them, instead of this being due to the force of gravity.

Although Einstein is considered the pioneer of these two theories. It is worth noting these theories were well known by many ancient cultures throughout history.

Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 B.C. to 210 B.C.), who unified China in 221 B.C. is thought to have had an army of around 8,000 Terracotta soldiers created.

Ancient cultures of Kemet (Egypt), India, and China, have well-documented knowledge and practical use cases of this knowledge and more that predates 1907 by thousands of years. Just think of the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, I Ching, Book of Changes, or the Kali-Yuga Calendar from India's philosophy and cosmology. These are only a few examples.

Stonehenge

The megalithic ruin known as Stonehenge stands on the open downland of Salisbury Plain two miles (three kilometers) west of the town of Amesbury, Wiltshire, in Southern England.

It is not a single structure but consists of a series of earth, timber, and stone structures that were revised and re-modeled over a period of more than 1400 years.

Investigations over the last 100 years have revealed that Stonehenge was built in several stages from 2800 - 1800 B.C.

Stonehenge is surely Britain's greatest national icon symbolizing mystery, power, and endurance. Its original purpose is unclear to us. The question of who built Stonehenge is largely unanswered, even today.

The monument's construction has been attributed to many ancient peoples throughout the years, but the most captivating and enduring attribution has been to the Druids.

King Tutankhaton

Around 1375 years before the birth of Christ, an Egyptian pharaoh publicly changed his name. That change set in motion a return to a long-standing tradition, a hallmark of Egyptian culture that flourished for more than 3,000 years peacefully in the rich Nile River Valley.

The king had been called Tutankhaton. The last part of his name, Aton, was the name given for the sun god, which, in the years before the king's reign, had achieved preeminence among the competing deities and Egypt's former religious tradition.

Note To Self:

When tobacco is smoked, nicotine is absorbed by the lungs and moves quickly into the bloodstream. There it is circulated throughout the brain. Very quickly, in fact, nicotine reaches the brain within 8 seconds after someone inhales tobacco smoke.

Nicotine can also enter the bloodstream through the mucous membranes that line the mouth (chewed) or nose (snuff), and even through the skin.

Nicotine affects the entire body. Nicotine acts directly on the heart to change heart rate and blood pressure. It also acts on the nerves that control respiration to change breathing patterns.

In high concentrations, nicotine is deadly, in fact, one drop of purified nicotine on the tongue will cause death. It's so lethal that it has been used as a pesticide for centuries.

Note To Self: Zero The Circle

We are taught that zero means nothing. This is not totally true. If you had $100 and your friend has $1000, there is a significant difference. Which would you rather have?

Numbers are not only used for place value. There are also philosophical components to them. All ancient cultures were aware of this. Evidence of their knowledge of numbers can be found in the monuments, scrolls, and temples they left behind.

The circle contains a universal meaning that has been understood for thousands of years. It represents the Self, infinity, eternity, timelessness, and the perfection of God's cyclic movement within creation.

Hermes Trismegistus - "God is a circle whose center is everywhere and circumference is nowhere."

181 - 233

Workbook

If we stick to this analogy we understand that in order to conceive of the infinite in any way, the mind must have a symbolic representation. That representation is the Circle hence zero. The mind is not equipped to understand infinity because we are all within the circle of life as it is happening.

Our first opportunity to conceive of such a phenomenon is a circle with a dot in the middle. Here out of the void of timelessness, we can collapse within with a point of reference. The dot is your point of perception, a place to start, a guide within the circle.

This circle is forever moving infinitely. There is no wonder infinity is represented with two connecting circles or a twisted circle. Therefore numbers 1 - 9 are born out of the circle. There are only nine numbers operating throughout all of creation.

lesson 11

"Na Nanny Na Na" is a common teasing chant used amongst some children, but not in this lesson. The chorus is used as a voice for a child to say to the world, “I got it,” or “I understand.” The underlying theme uses everyday activities children will be able to immediately grasp. This theme gives and example of the equation E=mc2, in a very simple manner that is easy to comprehend.

Antioxidants are molecules that defend the body from cellular damage by ending the free radical chain reaction before vital molecules are harmed. Some of these are vitamins A, C, E, selenium, and carotenoids.

42. Which of these does not fight free radicals?

A. __________________________________________________________________

Note To Self:

Typically, stable molecules contain pairs of electrons. When a chemical reaction breaks the bonds that hold paired electrons together, free radicals are produced.

Free radicals contain an odd number of electrons, which makes them unstable, short-lived, and highly reactive. As they combine with other atoms that contain unpaired electrons, new radicals are created, and a chain reaction begins.

What Is A Neuron?

Neurons are the basic building blocks of the nervous system; A neuron is a nerve cell and the human brain is made up of approximately 100 billion neurons.

Without the communication of nerve impulses between dendrites and axons, simple things like brushing your teeth, walking, would be a task. This is what’s going on inside your head.

203 - 233

Workbook

The "nerve impulses" move in one direction through the cell, from the left to the right. The left end of the neuron is made of special extensions called "dendrites" which receive information and bring electrochemical signals to the cell body (or "soma"); the right end of the neuron is a special extension called the "axon" which sends information away from the cell body.

52. Nerve impulses move in one direction through the cell from ______to____.

A. __________________________________________________________________

Dendrites

Dendrites (from Greek dendron, “tree”) are the branched projections of a neuron that acts to conduct the electrical stimulation received from other neural cells to the cell body or soma.

53. Dendrite comes from the Greek word meaning what?

A. __________________________________________________________________

 What Are Axons?

Axons - These nerve fibers are a long, slender projection of a nerve cell or neuron that conducts electrical impulses away from the neuron's cell body or soma.

204 - 233

54. True or False: Axons are long and slender projections of nerve cells.

A. True ___________________________ or False __________________________

Synapses: Where Nerve Cells Meet

Your body is bioelectric. Bioelectricity is one of many fundamental forms of energy in the human body and all living organisms. Electrochemistry is the study of chemical processes that cause electrons to move.

Neurons communicate with each other by electrochemical signals traveling from the axon terminal of one cell to the dendrite of the next...and on... and on...

The actual linking sites where nerve cells communicate are called synapses and neuronal communication of information is called "synaptic transmission."

55. Neurons communicate _____________ from axon to dendrite

A. __________________________________________________________________

56. The place where cells meet are called what?

A. __________________________________________________________________

205 - 233

Workbook

Note To Self

Vertebrate brains generally contain two kinds of tissue: gray matter and white matter.

Gray matter contains local networks of neurons that are wired by dendrites and mostly non-myelinated local axons.

White matter contains long-range axons that implement global communication via often myelinated axons

TIME

Every three calendar years will have 365 days, and every fourth year is a "leap year", which has 366 days, to make up for the extra quarter day over four years. The years 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004 are all leap years.

This is a total of 52 complete 7 day weeks in each calendar year, with 1-day leftover (or 2 in a leap year). The year is divided into 12 months, each of which has 30 or 31 days, except for February, which has 28 days (or 29 days in a leap year).

The following conversions are useful when working with time:

57. How many minutes are in one hour?
